Illinois Survives on Scott’s Final Stop After Clayton Delivers in Overtime

Xavier Scott's final intervention carried more weight than any of Illinois' earlier scoring drives. Michigan State had erased two separate two-touchdown deficits, answered Illinois' first overtime touchdown and positioned itself one completed pass from winning. Scott broke up the Spartans' two-point attempt. Illinois left East Lansing with a 38–37 victory on October 10 instead of another lead it could not protect.
