DETROIT — Cade Cunningham scored 32 points with 12 assists, and Tobias Harris added 30 points as the Pistons beat Orlando 116–94 in Game 7 on May 3 to complete their recovery from a 3–1 series deficit.
The victory gave Detroit its first playoff series win in 18 years. Rather than allowing the deciding game to remain a possession-by-possession struggle, the Pistons created separation through the middle quarters and finished with a 22-point margin.
Detroit trailed 22–20 after the first quarter, then outscored Orlando 40–27 in the second. The Pistons followed with a 23–15 third quarter, turning the combined middle periods into a 63–42 advantage. That stretch changed the game before the final quarter arrived.
Cunningham paired his scoring with efficient creation, making 10 of 18 shots and four of six three-pointers. Harris shot 11 of 18, including five of seven from deep, and collected nine rebounds. Jalen Duren contributed 15 points and 15 rebounds, helping Detroit finish with a 41–33 edge in player rebounds.
Paolo Banchero scored 38 points for Orlando and added nine rebounds and six assists. His production kept the Magic from lacking an individual offensive answer, but Detroit's broader contributions left Orlando unable to match the overall pace of scoring.
A Game 7 victory does more than extend a schedule. It settles whether the earlier recovery was enough to survive the series. Detroit had already removed its margin for error and then played its final game as if it understood exactly what that required.
The Pistons now move into the next round with a result that belongs to both their leading creator and the teammates who supported him. Cunningham directed the offense. Harris supplied another major scoring threat. Duren controlled important work inside. Together, they turned a threatened season into another playoff assignment.
