DePaul has an opportunity to follow its first BIG EAST women’s soccer victory with another meaningful result Wednesday, when Georgetown visits Wish Field for a 3 p.m. Chicago-time match.
The Blue Demons beat UConn 1–0 on October 17, giving them three points from a conference win before returning to Chicago. Katelyn Haiser scored the deciding goal in the 70th minute after receiving a pass from Carolina Capizzi, according to DePaul’s account.
The buildup to that finish was not a match without chances. Haiser had earlier efforts strike the post and crossbar, while goalkeeper Mason Hillery made important interventions at the other end. The final score was narrow, but DePaul’s preview describes contributions in both penalty areas rather than a result produced by one isolated opportunity.
Wednesday’s opponent arrives with recent momentum of its own. Georgetown drew Providence 1–1, beat St. John’s 2–1 and then won 2–0 at Butler. DePaul’s Tuesday preview placed the Hoyas three points ahead of the Blue Demons in the conference table.
That creates a clear immediate incentive without requiring a premature postseason claim. A DePaul victory would affect the teams’ relative position; it would not, by itself, settle the full conference race. The reporting focus belongs on how the Blue Demons build from the UConn win against an opponent that has also been collecting results.
For DePaul, the attacking question is whether the team can again turn chances into a finish that changes the score. Defensively, Hillery and the players in front of her face a Georgetown side coming off a two-goal road performance.
After Wednesday, DePaul travels to Providence for a Saturday, October 24, match scheduled for noon Chicago time. The immediate opportunity is closer to home: a midweek conference test at Wish Field, with a recent win behind the Blue Demons and another result available in front of them.
EVANSTON, Ill. — Chicago Stars FC returns to Martin Stadium on Sunday, October 18, for a 6 p.m. Central match against Seattle Reign FC. The game is scheduled to stream on the Roku Sports Channel.
