CHICAGO — Josh Giddey scored 32 points, and Ayo Dosunmu added 22 off the bench as the Bulls beat New York 135–125 on October 31 to remain unbeaten through five games.
Giddey finished one assist short of a triple-double, collecting 10 rebounds and nine assists without a turnover. Nikola Vučević scored 26 points, including four three-pointers, as Chicago found enough offense to withstand a strong New York response after halftime.
The Bulls led 72–53 at the break. The Knicks answered with a 38-point third quarter, reducing a comfortable Chicago advantage and forcing the home team to keep scoring. The Bulls did that, producing 35 points in the fourth rather than relying on the lead to protect itself.
Dosunmu's contribution gave Chicago a major lift beyond its starters. He made eight of 10 shots, handed out nine assists and finished with a plus-19 mark in 29 minutes. His scoring and passing meant the Bulls had another reliable creator when New York increased the pressure.
Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 29 points. OG Anunoby added 26, Mikal Bridges 23 and Karl-Anthony Towns 22. That level of scoring from New York's principal players made Chicago's own efficiency essential. The Bulls shot 53.6 percent from the field and made 17 of 37 three-point attempts.
The 5–0 start gave Chicago an encouraging early position, but the manner of the win was more instructive than an unbeaten label alone. Giddey controlled a large workload, Vučević stretched the defense and Dosunmu made the bench minutes productive. New York had enough scoring to make the game uncomfortable. Chicago had enough answers to finish it. The next challenge is to keep that distribution of responsibility working as the schedule continues.
