CHICAGO: The Chicago Bulls are not finished changing their roster.
The team acquired Guerschon Yabusele from the New York Knicks in exchange for Dalen Terry, adding a veteran forward during a week defined by extensive transactions.
The move may not carry the immediate attention generated by the departures of Nikola Vučević or Coby White.
But it offers another example of Chicago's effort to reconsider the structure of its rotation.
A different kind of frontcourt option
Yabusele arrives as a physically strong forward capable of contributing in several different offensive roles.
He provides experience against high-level competition, including time in the NBA and European basketball.
For Chicago, that versatility may prove useful.
The Bulls have been attempting to combine athletic forwards with guards capable of creating scoring opportunities.
A player who can contribute through physicality and occasional perimeter offense provides another lineup option.
Terry's developmental chapter ends
Chicago selected Terry in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft.
His combination of size, energy and defensive potential made him an intriguing prospect.
But he struggled to establish a consistent role.
During the 2025–26 season, Terry averaged 3.5 points and 1.9 rebounds before the trade.
The Bulls ultimately decided to move on.
That decision reflects the difficult reality of roster development.
Not every prospect becomes the player an organization originally envisioned.
Chicago invested time in Terry.
The front office now believes another option better fits its plans.
Yabusele must earn his opportunity
Yabusele had appeared in 41 games for New York during the season, averaging 2.7 points and 2.1 rebounds.
Those numbers do not suggest he will immediately become a primary offensive contributor.
His opportunity in Chicago will depend on defensive assignments, rebounding and the ability to support the team's developing offensive players.
The Bulls must determine which lineups benefit from his presence.
Another moving piece
Chicago's trade deadline has become one of the franchise's most active periods in recent memory.
Several established players have departed.
New contributors have arrived.
The front office is attempting to create flexibility while evaluating a different roster structure.
Yabusele is another part of that process.
His acquisition does not resolve the larger questions surrounding the Bulls.
It creates one more opportunity to identify what the next version of the team might need.
