MILWAUKEE — The Brewers have already reached 100 victories.
Apparently, they aren't interested in slowing down.
Milwaukee defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 8–4 on Friday, improving to 101–59 and continuing its strong finish to the regular season.
The Brewers produced eight runs, doubling St. Louis' scoring total.
The victory came one day after Milwaukee reached the 100-win milestone with a 5–1 result against Philadelphia.
For a team already positioned for postseason baseball, maintaining competitive intensity during the final weekend can be a challenge.
Milwaukee has avoided allowing its successful season to become an excuse for complacency.
The Brewers have continued producing victories against familiar divisional opponents while preparing for October.
Friday's offensive output also demonstrated that Milwaukee can win in different ways.
The Brewers limited Philadelphia to one run in consecutive games earlier in the week.
Against St. Louis, the offense supplied eight.
That versatility will become important when postseason opponents begin testing different parts of the roster.
Milwaukee had two regular-season games remaining after Friday’s victory.
The team has already established itself among baseball's best.
Now the Brewers are attempting to arrive in October playing that way.
