Northwestern Wins on Final Kick After Defense, Chiles Fuel 24-21 Comeback at Michigan State

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern's 24-21 victory at Michigan State on Saturday will be remembered for Jackson Kleather's 34-yard field goal in the closing seconds. But the kick was the final step in a far more complicated escape. Before Northwestern could win, its defense had to prevent a Michigan State score, its offense had to recover from an eight-point fourth-quarter deficit and its quarterback had to make sure the last meaningful possession belonged to the Wildcats.
