DePaul built a two-goal halftime lead but finished with a 2–2 draw against Georgetown on Wednesday at Wish Field. The Blue Demons scored twice in the opening 17 minutes before the Hoyas answered with two second-half goals in a Big East women's soccer match.
The opening came at 6:22, when da Silva converted with an assist from Haiser. DePaul doubled the advantage at 16:55 as Haiser scored, with Capizzi and Veldman credited with assists. Haiser finished the match with a goal and an assist, contributing directly to both DePaul scores.
Georgetown reduced the deficit at 59:43 through Mannon, assisted by Jacobs. The equalizer arrived at 80:03 when Chrnelich scored from Spengler's assist. DePaul's two-goal cushion had disappeared, leaving the final minutes to decide whether either team could turn the draw into a win.
The Blue Demons still generated late opportunities. Capizzi's header in the 86th minute required a deflection from the Georgetown goalkeeper, and Latenser struck the woodwork in the 88th minute. Neither chance changed the score.
Georgetown finished with a 12–9 advantage in shots, a 5–4 edge in shots on target and a 5–1 lead in corner kicks. DePaul goalkeeper Hillery made three saves, all after halftime. Those numbers reflect the visitors' stronger second-half pressure without erasing DePaul's efficient start.
The draw leaves DePaul at 4–4–6 overall and 1–2–3 in conference play. Georgetown is 5–4–5 overall and 2–2–3 in the Big East. For the Blue Demons, the result adds a point but also leaves a clear contrast between creating an early advantage and protecting it through the second half.
DePaul's next assignment is another conference home match, against Providence on Saturday, October 24. Kickoff is scheduled for noon Chicago time, with coverage listed on ESPN+. The short turnaround gives the Blue Demons a chance to carry forward Wednesday's early attacking production while addressing the sequence that allowed Georgetown back into the game.
Northwestern did more than survive a ranked opponent Monday. The Wildcats generated the larger share of the shots and kept UCLA from putting sustained pressure on goal in a 0–0 draw at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium.
